GOOD CITIZENS BUILDING A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE

After the big effort that we made to know others and feel, EMPATHY  now we are working in a basic topic: tolerance and respect as bases of a better place to live.

First we made research, to understand and learn what a citizen is. Then we notice that citizens conform communities, and communities have needs and needs should be satisfied.

During this part, we learned about a terrible issue: bullying. Our classmates from 6th grade have been making some research about this issue: BULLYING AND EMPATHY IN MEXICO AND SPAIN and they share their findings with us, they even make a video against. BULLYING .  They also make us stories and perform on Mother´s day. STORYTELLING: SHREK AGAINST BULLUYIG

We came to the idea that universal values are the solution to this terrible problem. 

Respect, empathy, and tolerance are the values that we promote to avoid and cure abusive situations.

We even visited a TV studio Once TV where we talked about this issue. 

We are working hard to paractice this values and share what what we think is important to build a better place to live.

KNOWING OUR WORLD / CONOZCO EL MUNDO Y ME DOY A CONOCER.

During these weeks, children worked hardly to know our world.
All community is working to know and understand different people around the world. This activity helps to develop empaty.
We care about empaty because it's a fundamental value that let us be in peace and let children relate themselves with others.
The first step was that kids understand the meaning of project, so they investigated and illustrated in Facebook.
Next, kids looked for famous places in the U.S.A. and also post them in Facebook, they connected those places with Mexico, bridges, monumets, landforms, etc.
Kids identified the pollution as a social issue in the U.S.A. and Mexico, so they made collages to let others know the problem and purpose some solutions.

KNOWING OUR PLACE AND TIME THROUGHOUT TRADITIONS: Christmas

Second graders are knowing our place and time and it's much easier when they analyze traditions. All school is working on the same project for Christmas and second graders must make a research about Christmas in Spain.

The first step is that children understand what a traditon is, they've worked in books to notice that every family has traditions and it's not necessary to talk about a special day; families have traditions even every weekend.

I asked kids what things their families do every week to help them see that a tradition is conformed by activity patterns, and some of them answered that they play with their siblings, some of them said that they go to the movies every week, and of course the most of them spend their time playing videogames.

So, the purpose of this blog is to help kids to know what traditions they share as family members and today I assigned to ask to their parents about it. Tomorrow in class we'll talk about it but I would like to ask parents to share some traditions they have. Parents may share what they do at Christmas and later kids may compare their traditions with the Spanish ones.

El Día de Muertos es una celebración mexicana de origen prehispánico que honra a los difuntos el 2 de noviembre, comienza desde el 1 de noviembre, y coincide con las celebraciones católicas de Día los Fieles Difuntos y Todos los Santos.
Los orígenes de la celebración del Día de Muertos en México son anteriores a la llegada de los españoles. Hay registro de celebraciones en las etnias mexica, maya, purépecha y totonaca
Para honrrar a sus difuntos se hace un altal con veladorar incienso,flores de cenpasuchil

What I like to do in school.

Today kids are expressing their favorite activities in school.
At this moment they are illustrating some sentences in books, to communicate what they like the most.

Who am I? I am Mexican!!

We are 2nd graders and we are celebrating our Independence as Mexicans.
We use to wear typical dresses in our Independence day, of course it's not mandatory because we know that our Mexican pride is in our soul.
